Paying homage to the vibrant city that has fuelled the fire for his creativity many times, renowned designed Punit Balana unveils his latest collection- “Johari Bazaar,” Imbibing within its seams and folds the vibrant culture of Rajasthan, this collection transforms the every day into the extraordinary.
During a casual evening stroll through Johari Bazaar, Punit was enveloped by the market’s vibrant energy. The bustling lanes, alive with the sounds and sights of the city, awakened a newfound sense of inspiration within the designer. Be it the vivid puppets, intricately carved wooden blocks, Mughal motifs adorning quilts, dazzling chaandbalis, or the ornate jaali work and jharokhas; all these became more than just elements of the bazaar—they turned into the essence of his latest designs.
Returning to his studio, Punit channelled this artistic myriad into his collection. Khaka patterns emerged from the puppets’ playful forms, while Mughal motifs were meticulously woven into the fabric, echoing the rich heritage of Jaipur. The collection’s colour palette, including the jewel-like hues of Gulaabi Gulaal and Baingani, reflects the vibrancy of the bazaar. Even the sage green, reminiscent of Russian emerald imitation jewellery, adds a touch of elegance and depth.
“Johari Bazaar” is more than just a collection; it is a narrative of discovery and artistic evolution. Punit Balana invites you to experience the magic and allure of Jaipur’s Johari Bazaar through his eyes, in designs that blend tradition with a contemporary touch, making each piece a timeless treasure.
