Chennai, September 2026: The Department of Pharmacology, SRM College of Pharmacy, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, in collaboration with CELLINK, organised a one-day workshop on Advanced 3D Bioprinting Technologies, a hands-on Training on Modern Bio fabrication for Drug Discovery. 

The workshop brought together 45 participants from various academic institutions in pharmacy and biotechnology, providing exposure toemerging bio fabrication technologies and theirapplications in pharmaceutical and biomedical research.

Dr. V. Chitra, Dean & Convenor, SRM College ofPharmacy, SRMIST, inaugurated the programmeand highlighted the growing importance ofemerging technologies in pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences. Dr. Vijeta Jaiswal, Application Scientist, CELLINK, served as the resource person for the technical sessions. Dr. J. Narayanan, Organising Secretary, Department of Pharmacology, coordinated the programme.

The workshop focused on the fundamentals of 3D bioprinting, bioinks and modern bio fabrication, with discussions on their applicationsin 3D cell culture, tissue engineering, drug discovery and personalised medicine. A live demonstration of the CELLINK BIO X bioprintergave participants an opportunity to understandthe operation and workflow of an advanced bioprinting platform.

The highlight of the workshop was the hands-on training using the CELLINK BIO X, enabling participants to gain practical exposure to 3Dbioprinting and understand its potentialapplications in contemporary pharmaceutical and biomedical research. 

Dr. M. Sumithra, Professor, Department ofPharmacology, delivered the valedictory address. The workshop served as a platform for interdisciplinary learning and provided participants with practical exposure to advanced 3D bioprinting technologies and their emerging role in drug discovery, tissue engineering and biomedical research.

The event concluded with an interactive session,participant feedback and certificate distribution.
